Seoul 3-Cushion World Cup enters final qualifying round as ‘world’s best billiards players come together’

The ‘Seoul 2023 World 3-Cushion Billiards World Cup’ has wrapped up its qualifying rounds and is now in full swing with the final qualifying rounds.

The Korea Billiards Federation announced on September 9, “The third day of the Seoul World Cup Qualifiers held at the Victory Hall at Taereung Athletic Center in Seoul has concluded, and the Q Round, the final qualifier for the main group stage, will be held.” The tournament, which opened on June 6, will continue for a week until June 12.

Choi Wan-young, the gold medalist at the 104th National Championships last month, had a tough time reaching the next round. Tied with the Netherlands’ Jeffrey Jorisen on wins (1 win, 1 draw) and average (1.666), Choi survived a high run with a score of 9, three points higher than her opponent.

Park Sooyoung also secured the final qualifying spot with a 1.363 average and nine high runs, while Jung Seung-il, who topped his group by two points over Kim Jin-yeol (Ansan Sports Association), earned a spot in the QF with an average of 1.153. They will be joined by the seeded winners of the Q Round of the final qualifiers. Cha Myung-jong (Incheon Sports Council – 18th in the world), Seo Chang-hoon (Siheung Sports Council – 24th in the world) and Hwang Bong-joo (Siheung Sports Council – 39th in the world). The final qualifying round for the Round of 32 will be held on September 9.
